The Reds played the Cubs (Final score 3-2 Reds), but the outcome of the game didn’t really matter. The ballpark is beautiful and our seats were perfect. Great American Park is situated right on the Ohio River, and we could see paddle wheelers doing sight seeing tours, and we could see across the river to Kentucky.Every restaurant downtown was closed (not sure if it was because of Sunday or July 4th). So In the evening, after meandering to Fountain Square to see a statue that is supposedly iconic in Cincinnati, we took the free trolley once again to the Ballpark neighborhood for dinner in one of the many pubs. Then, to the rooftop bar of a hotel across the street from the Ballpark to watch fireworks. That hotel was lovely, so much to my dismay, I realized that we could have stayed right there, across the street from our main destination. After the fireworks, we realized the trolley was no longer running, so we called Uber. Except there were no cars available. And, no taxis. So, with Carl’s bad leg and my bad back we WALKED the half mile back to our hotel. It was slow and painful, but we made it. It was frustrating to think that a half-mile walk was so difficult, but I guess that’s part of getting older.
We are leaving Cincinnati tomorrow, and taking a couple of days to drive to Northern Michigan. I hope your July 4 holiday was safe and fun.

I bet you slept well that night and were sore the next morning. That was a LONG way to walk.
